Cataloguing Usborne Books
As a service to librarians and library-technicians cataloguing Usborne Books in their libraries, we have made an evolving list of MARC records for many of the Usborne Books currently available here.
Click here to access the MARC records.
What is a MARC record?
A MARC record is a standardized format for providing cataloguing information to librarians. MARC is derived from MAchine-Readable Cataloguing record.
Cataloguing record:
"Cataloguing record" means a bibliographic record, or the information traditionally shown on a catalogue card. The record includes (not necessarily in this order):
a description of the item,
main entry and added entries,
subject headings,
the classification or call number.
(MARC records often contain additional information.)
If you'd like to learn more about MARC records, there is a great, not-too-technical overview on this website.
